Formed in 1923 as
an outreach of the former Methodist Episcopal Church to the growing
area of Vitrolite (Vienna) by the late Rev. Dr. John Wolfe, Wayside
United Methodist Church has been central to community life from its
inception.
While the
community has changed greatly around it over the years, Wayside
United Methodist Church has continued to faithfully engage its
mission of witness and discipleship.
Today,
Wayside United Methodist Church continues to be on a journey as a
community of faith toward fulfilling God's mission to the world,
which we understand to be to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the
transformation of the world and to cultivate those disciples in
Christian faith and practice continues to be on the forefront of our
churches ministries and initiatives.
Our prayer is that
God may continue to find us faithful in this task and that through
our congregational life, nurture, worship, ministry, and witness, we
may glorify God to the end that God's Kingdom may come upon the earth
even as it is in Heaven.
