Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads throughout the world to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from preparing the church bulletins to serving as liturgist during Sunday morning worship.

Mission Outreach

Wayside Church is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. The two missionaries supported by Wayside Church  are located in two countries—India and South America.  We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.
Outreach and Evangelism
Wayside has a very active team that works totally on outreach. They sponsor many awesome events through the year for the community. For more information, please check their page here: Outreach & Evanglism

Good Samaritan Center

Director – Cathy Bauman – 304.295.4896

The Good Samaritan Center (GSC) is housed by Wayside UMC.  The GSC is a collaborative food pantry and assistance ministry of 15 area churches.  The GSC is open on Monday and Wednesday from 1-3 pm.  Families in need of assistance need only show proof of residence and income.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. The Wayside prayer team meets daily in our prayer chapel to pray for our community, our members and concerns called in to the 24-hour prayer line.
If you have a prayer concern you wish to share, you can visit the Prayer Team’s page for more information and to submit a prayer request.  We know the power of prayer and believe in it.
Wayside has a very active Youth group. Our Youth group believes every student deserves a safe, comfortable place to grow in their faith. Wayside Youth meets on Sundays at 5pm and has Bible Study on Wednesdays at 6pm. For updates, newsletters, and more information, visit their page here: Wayside Youth

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of our church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.

Society of Saint Stephen

The Society of St. Stephen is the mission auxiliary of Wayside Church whose purpose is to raise funding, provide educational opportunities, and foster mission engagement in every friend and member of Wayside.
From the pennies we collect on Sunday morning to fundraisers we hold, this group is the backbone of funding our mission projects.  To share your time, talent, or gifts to Wayside’s mission efforts, contact the church office @ 304.295.4896.
